     Thanks for commenting!

     I actually am an affiliate member of SCIP. I haven’t been writing specs for quite long enough to be a regular member! Next January I’ll be eligible to become a regular member.

     I’ve been writing specs since January of 2008. Before that, I practiced as an architect, and that wasn’t so long ago – I am close enough to the experience of practicing as an architect, working with an outside specifications consultant, to remember what that is like.

     A lot of that experience informs the way I write my blog – I remember what it’s like to be in the position that my clients are in now. In my work and in my blog, I try to pass on the info that I gained very quickly as soon as I started writing specs, but had little comprehension of before I started writing specs. It’s easier to see some things when we’re on the other side of them.
